Preserving Open Space
Maintaining open space to enhance the quality of life for residents is a priority of the Springfield Township Board of Trustees. The township encourages preservation of open space and development of recreational facilities that meet the needs of the entire community.
The Public Works Department maintains 11 neighborhood parks, natural environments, and recreation areas, totaling 168 acres located throughout the township. These areas include baseball and soccer fields, basketball courts, open fields and nature preserves. Stephanie Hummer Park, Clifford George Park and Lexington Height Park offer picnic shelters that are available on a first come, first-served basis.
Winton Woods, Hamilton County's largest public park and voted the Best Park in Hamilton County, anchors the northern border of Springfield Township. Winton Woods features miles of walking and biking trails, nature paths, a lake, playgrounds, campgrounds, reservable picnic shelters and two golf courses. Great Parks of Hamilton County operates and maintains Winton Woods.
