About Township Government

Springfield Township operates under the township form of government, the oldest form of government in the United States and the one closest to the people. The elected officials of a township are three trustees who are the governing body and a fiscal officer who is responsible for the financial and record keeping duties. Springfield Township is managed by a professional township administrator appointed by the Board of Trustees, who oversees all departments and the day-to-day business of the township.
