Zoning and Zoning Certificates

The Springfield Township Zoning Resolution regulates how property can be used, and where structures can be placed on property. Springfield Township is divided into zoning districts, and each district has its own set of regulations on projects such as buildings, fences, accessory structures, and signs.  Zoning in Springfield Township is managed and enforced by the Township Administration Department and Code Enforcement Division of the Fire Department.

For example, a zoning certificate is required for the following projects:

- Fences

- Pools and decks

- Accessory structures (ex. garages and sheds)

- Permanent or temporary signs

- Changing the use of a building

- Building additions

Building Permits

Springfield Township is responsible for the issuance of zoning permits for most development or building related activity in the township. After you receive a zoning permit from the township you must, in most instances, apply for a building permit, which are issued by the Hamilton County Building Department.

You may gain more information regarding the application requirements for building permits through the Hamilton County Department of Building Inspections website or by calling at 513-946-4550.
