Springfield Township is saddened to announce the death of Firefighter/Paramedic Steven (Steve) Hayden, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 24, 2022 from a cardiac emergency at the young age of 33.
“Steve is a part of our family in the Springfield Township Fire Department and will be forever missed,” shared Fire Chief Robert Leininger.
Steve began his career as a part-time Firefighter/Paramedic with Colerain Township in 2011. He was hired part-time with Springfield Township Fire Department in 2015, then promoted to full-time in 2019 while continuing to serve Colerain Township. “He was a great addition to our team from the very beginning,” shared Chief Leininger. “It’s so hard to lose a member of your team, especially one so young and with such dedication to being a Firefighter. He was highly respected by all of his peers.”
A Memorial Service for Steve Hayden will be held Friday, July 1 at Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Avenue. The visitation is scheduled 9:00 a.m. until noon. Services will immediately follow. After services have concluded, Springfield Township and Colerain Township Fire Departments will lead a procession to Saint James Cemetery, located at 6111 Cheviot Road. The approximate start of the procession will be 1:30 p.m.
